pIEDMONT WINES

sipping through Piedmont, Italy

Barolo, Barbaresco, and beyond…

Exploring the Elegance of Piedmont Wines…

Recently, we’ve had the pleasure of exploring the incredible wines of Piedmont, Italy. In our first wine tasting session, we dove into this celebrated region, uncovering exactly why it’s home to some of the world’s most exceptional wines. From rich, velvety reds to crisp, aromatic whites, every sip was a journey of discovery – and yes, it was as delightful as it sounds!

This tasting gave us a deeper appreciation for Piedmont’s unique varietals and terroir. We encountered new favourites that we can’t wait to recommend, rediscovered classics that still stand the test of time, and even tasted a few bold, unconventional wines that sparked lively debates.

So why Italy, and why now? We’re in the process of curating a sensational wine list for our wine bar in Cornwall, featuring wines that celebrate the finest traditions and innovations of winemaking. While this first tasting was a deep dive into Piedmont, we’re looking forward to exploring other renowned regions in Italy and beyond, with plans to delve into France, Spain, and exciting New World producers.

And this is just the beginning. In the future, we hope to bring these experiences to life through wine dinners, more tastings, and indulgent wine flights. Who knows, perhaps a wine and cheese night might be on the horizon too!

Stay tuned for updates – and if you’re as passionate about wine as we are, we’d love to have you join us on our journey.

Our thoughts From The Tasting…

The Days Favourite…
Barolo `Parussi`:

A classic for a reason and a must-have on our wine list. Originating in a small 23-hectare estate producing some of the greatest, most structured and long-lived Barolo wines. With a hint of balsamic on the nose followed closely by deep red fruits. The vigorous and powerful taste made us glad that we saved it for last.

Gavi di Gavi:

This single-vineyard wine had immediately beguiling aromas of stone fruit and lime peel. This was a good wine to start with based on its delicate yet persistent finishing flavours of fresh green apples.

Barbera d’Alba:

The bright violet colour was eye-catching, but it was its complexity that got us talking! Which food dishes it would go best with was a big topic, ultimately it seemed that it would pair well with a range of meals.

Dolcetto d’Alba:

With notes of red cherries, blackberries, and violets, blending perfectly with its fresh and fruity tannins… talk about harmony. The perfectly balanced flavours made this a true pleasure to drink.

Nebbiolo:

With a fine combination of cherry and earthy aromas, we were excited about the taste. It did not disappoint… believe us, this was a treat!

Doglini:

Like a rush of flavour attacking our senses, this was packed with red fruit tasting notes (raspberry was agreed upon the most!). It was one of the firm favourites.

Barbaresco ‘Currà’:

This was superb, we all agreed that the fruit flavours shone through, yet it still managed to retain its structure. Perfect.

It was a delight to sip our way through Piedmont, and we hope you’ll join us to experience some exceptional Barolo, Barbaresco, and more at our wine bar in Cornwall.
