The haunting of Room 17…
Rumour has it that long ago, in 1892, a young servant named Lillian Aldred met a tragic end within the walls of what is now Penventon Park Hotel.
They say she was beautiful, and that Lord Albert Moore, a lesser known master of the manor, couldn’t resist her. Gifts, letters, and whispered promises of a future together convinced Lillian of his love. But when Lady Ethel discovered her husband’s betrayal, recognising a pearl necklace around Lillian’s neck, the affair was exposed. In front of the staff, Albert denied everything, accusing Lillian of theft. Heartbroken and humiliated, she fled to her room.
The next morning, the staff followed the sound of soft creaking and found her hanging from the bathroom doorway. Some claim she took her own life. Others whisper that Lord Albert and Lady Ethel made sure she’d never speak again. The Moores sold the house and vanished soon after.
To this day, guests staying in Room 17 swear they hear footsteps on the stairs, floorboards groaning above, and the slow swing of an unseen rope.
Do you dare to spend a night in the dreaded Room 17?

Our 7 Deadly Sins Cocktails
Last October, we created 7 Deadly Sins Cocktails, each one embodying one of the Seven Deadly Sins… and this year they’re back. But these aren’t just drinks. We explored the origins of each sin, from biblical warnings to Dante’s Inferno, where punishments were as poetic as they were brutal. Every ingredient was chosen with care, not just for taste but for symbolism, pomegranates for Pride’s fall from innocence, sharp citrus to sting like Envy, deep red syrups for Wrath’s rage.
