1. Take a Surf Lesson at Perranporth Surf School
We know the reason many families plan a May half term in Cornwall are the fantastic beaches, the promise of golden sand and turquoise seas is second to none. Why not make the most of it and take a family surfing lesson? Perranporth Surf school has everything you need to get started, as well as qualified friendly instructors who’ll help you catch your first wave.

2. Lost Gardens of Heligan
The Lost Gardens of Heligan is one of Cornwall’s most loved attractions, the beautifully restored gardens not only make a great day out, but also host family friendly activities throughout the year. This May half term your little ones can get stuck into their ‘Wild Week’ which features creative outdoor play and where they can have fun learning survival skills.

3. Great Estate Festival | 29th – 31st May 2026
This rambunctious affair is by far the best way to end your May half term in Cornwall. It’s one of Cornwall’s best family friendly festivals and has something for everyone from great live music, to unique offerings like the circus skills workshop, craft sessions and their famous Victorian Sports Day event. There’s also funfair rides and a large bouncy castle area that add to the lively vibrant atmosphere.

4. The Eden Project
During the May half term, the Eden Project transforms into a luminous hub of discovery and delight, where families drift through the iconic biomes beneath Cornwall’s spring skies. Bursting with fresh blooms, interactive trails and hands-on workshops, it offers a fun-filled blend of learning and leisure, inviting visitors to pause, explore and reconnect with the natural world in its most vibrant seasonal moment.

5. Visit The Royal Cornwall Museum
We’d recommend a trip to the newly refurbished Royal Cornwall Museum in Truro during your visit. It’s home to some of Cornwall’s great art and historical artifacts and is a great place to learn more about Cornish culture. After days spent exploring Cornwall’s beaches it’s a great place for a more in depth cultural experience.
