‘I started work here 27½ years ago in 1996 in the Restaurant alongside my studies, to save money for university. I started in the Restaurant working all hours, often until 2am, and have since worked in almost every department, starting full time in Reception in 2001 and have been a part of the furniture ever since.
From 2001-2013, I worked both full time in Reception with additional Restaurant Maire d’ and F&B shifts, averaging approximately 65 hours a week. Since 2013, I’ve worked solely in Reception (as well as office admin).

I started my running journey with my first London Marathon in 2006.
As a child, I had always watched & been inspired by the London Marathon, and knew that I would take part one day.
My father passed away when I was 26 after a short illness in 2005. He spent his final days at St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle, who do absolutely remarkable work. The care & compassion that they give on a daily basis is unrivalled.
Dad knew that I’d entered for a place in my first London Marathon, but sadly passed away a month before I was given the opportunity, and so I ran in his memory to raise money for Cornwall Hospice Care (St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle & Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell).

I have subsequently run the London Marathon 13 times to date, each time for Cornwall Hospice Care, with my last one in 2019. After a five year break, and nearly 20 years after my first one, I am back to take part once again, older & slower.
Over the years, countless other people (including colleagues & friends along the way) have spent time in or have been helped by Cornwall Hospice Care, and I am proud to say that to date (along with my twin brother Anthony) I have raised for them over £33,000′.
