September: A Busy Month for Cornish Bride’s Wedding Venue of The Year 2014!

As we approach September, we wait for what promises to be a very busy month! Not only are we holding our annual ‘End of Season’ Bridal Fayre here at The Penventon Park Hotel, we are also privileged to be hosting  Lavender Rose’s Charity Bridal Catwalk in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support!

On Thursday 11th September 2014, Lavender Rose will be hosting a Charity Bridal Catwalk. On this spectacular evening, the launch of Madeline Isaac James’ brand new collection ‘Maddy’ will take place! This collection is exclusive to Lavender Rose. The evening promises to be a fantastic evening, also showing Mother of the Bride/Groom fashions from Manor Fashions, Helston and Menswear from Moss Bros.

Tickets for the Charity Bridal Catwalk are £5 and can be bought at The Penventon Park Hotel, Lavender Rose (Penryn) or online at www.lavender-rose.co.uk! Come and support this wonderful event to raise money for a truly deserving charity!

Shortly after this, The Penventon Park Hotel will be holding it’s own ‘End of Season’ Bridal Fayre which will host bridal sale clearance lines, plenty of offers and Penventon discounts! On Sunday 21st September, between 10.30am and 3pm, enter the doors of our Georgian Manor House Hotel and explore our beautiful wedding suites and bedrooms, whilst enjoying a complimentary glass of Polgoon sparkling wine!

Not only will you be able to meet the local florists, cake-makers, bridal wear specialists & other wedding suppliers that we consider to be the best in the area, Penventon’s own wedding co-ordinators be on hand all day to answer and questions or queries you might have and to illustrate why we were voted Cornish Bride’s Wedding Venue of The Year 2014!

The Penventon is Pleased to be ‘Pinking it Up’ Once More!

The Penventon Park Hotel is thrilled to be teaming up with Breast Cancer Survivor, Brenda Pedley, once more to ‘paint the walls pink’ in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The ‘Pink it Up’ evening will take place on Friday 24th October 2014  and will raise money for the charity’s breast cancer awareness and fundraising campaign, ‘Join the fight for women’s survival’ .

Being the fourth year that Pink it Up has taken place at The Penventon and with the ever-growing support received, it is looking likely that Brenda Pedley will reach her fundraising goal of £100,000!

The Penventon’s experienced brigade of Chefs have prepared an especially themed ‘Pink’ menu – with a donation of £5 made by the hotel directly to Cancer Research UK for every person dining from the menu!

With places limited, and demand already high, please contact the hotel on 01209 203000 to book your table as soon as possible, stating you wish to dine from the charity menu. Tables are available between 7pm and 9.30pm. 

Attention Girls! Prepare yourself for some pre-dinner ‘Pink Pampering’! Enjoy all day entry to the pool (10am – 6pm), sauna, jacuzzi & fitness suite, complimentary tea, coffee, fruit juices, biscuits & cakes plus a light bite luncheon. 10 – 15 minute treatment slots will also be available for a minimum donation of £5.00 with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.

The Cornish Food & Drink Festival

This year, The Penventon Park Hotel will be supporting The Cornish Food and Drink Festival. The Cornish Food and Drink Festival will be taking stage in place of The Cornish Asparagus Festival, and will commence on Sunday 1st of June at The Penventon Park Hotel.

The Cornish Food and Drink Festival will be aiming to allow a crowd of local producers to gather together in aid of Cornwall Hospice Care. The Penventon’s own chefs will be featuring during the festival, providing exciting cookery demonstrations using Cornish produce. Taking advantage of this time of year, the chefs will also be able to give useful advice on how to use the delicious ingredients that are so accessible to us this season: allowing us to make the most of it!

At the festival, there will be 30 stalls selling a huge variety of Cornish food and drink: not forgetting the famous Cornish asparagus! There is also set to be an extensive raffle to be drawn on the day with some exquisite prizes including; a one night stay at The Penventon Hotel inclusive of bed & breakfast, a Rick Stein hamper and a signed copy of Nathan Outlaw’s latest book.

Clare Bray, Community Fundraiser at Cornwall Hospice Care, said “This is the first time we have organised an event purely based on food and drink and I’m really excited about the variety of local produce that will be there on the day. It should definitely inspire anyone to get in the kitchen and try something different!”

Clare added: “Entry on the day is free, so come along and see some of the fantastic locally produced food and drink that Cornwall has to offer and at the same time help to support a truly Cornish charity”.

Wedding Season at The Penventon

Now that the beautiful weddings held here at The Penventon Park Hotel are becoming more and more frequent as we delve into the wedding season, we would like to take the opportunity once again to celebrate our success at the most recent Cornish Brides Awards: being crowned Wedding Venue of The Year 2014.

 Of the 200 businesses that participated in the annual Cornish Brides Awards, hosted by Cornish Brides Magazine, 48 entrants were selected as finalists across 13 varied categories such as Designer of the Year, Venue of the Year and Photographer of the Year. During the judging process, the judges took into consideration comments and feedback from previous brides and guests of weddings held here, along with the number of votes collected during the open voting periods, websites and social media platforms and feedback obtained from mystery client visits and calls.

The Cornish Brides Awards are specifically designed to recognise and reward talent, quality and dedication from businesses and individuals who have proven to make an exceptional contribution to the Cornish bridal industry. This being said, it is an honour to have even been short-listed for a title, alongside all of these other fantastic wedding venues in Cornwall, but to be crowned winner, it is a huge achievement for the team at Penventon.

With voting now underway for the Cornish Brides Awards 2015, we are all here at Penventon Park Hotel working hard to preserve our title as Wedding Venue of The Year. £1,041 Raised For Cancer Research

An buzz of expectancy filled the air in the Dining Galleries on Friday night at the Penventon Park Hotel as the 3rd Pinking it Up dinner in aid of research into breast cancer, got under way.

Once again the dining room became a haze of pink balloons supplied by Steve Petty of Cornish Decorative Balloons and an especially pink themed menu devised by the chef awaited the taste buds of the 101 guests who had booked tables in anticipation of another enjoyable evening. Once again the Hotel pledged £5 to the charity for every person dining from the special pink menu.

On arrival, guests were offered a pink welcome drink and invited to make a donation which was added to the wishing tree supplied by Caramia occasion stationery & accessories.  A raffle of several prizes took place, with the top prize being a 1 night stay for 2 including dinner at the Penventon Park Hotel.  By the end of the night £1,041 had been raised. Brenda, who herself beat breast cancer, said

“ I am always grateful to the Penventon Park Hotel and its staff for the effort put in to make the evening such a success, and was very moved when they donated their tips for the night to the ‘pink it up’ fundraising event”.

Brenda is still amazed at the generosity of the local community and feels that with a little more effort on her part the £100,000 target can be achieved.

The Second Annual Cornwall Asparagus Festival – An all-round success!

Our second annual Cornwall Asparagus Festival was an all-round success. Well over 300 visitors attended the event, doubling its visitor numbers since our first event in 2012.

Aaron Pascoe, General Manager at The Penventon, was delighted with the turnout. “We’re passionate about local produce and we’ve worked hard to make this year’s festival bigger and better than the first. We’re so pleased that so many people came along to celebrate the county’s fantastic produce with us and we hope that the festival just goes from strength to strength, year on year. We have so much to offer here in Cornwall, many talented local chefs and delicious produce, so it’s great to celebrate all things local.”

The festival, which took place on Sunday 19 May, was a free one-day event with a mixture of asparagus recipes, live cookery demonstrations, tasters, a special asparagus menu and plenty of Cornish food and drink on offer. The festival is about so much more than asparagus; the Food Market showcased everything from home grown veg and Cornish duck, to Cornish wine and clotted cream. Presented by BBC Radio Cornwall’s Daphne Skinnard and Tiffany Truscott the live cookery demonstrations were a real highlight of the festival.

Joe Lado Devesa, head chef, comments: “People came from far and wide to explore as much Cornish produce as they could manage. Local growers John and Jennie Keeler were happy to answer questions about asparagus and we had some fantastic chefs, including Tim Treseder, Arty Williams, Nigel Tabb and Mark Devonshire sharing the secrets behind their favourite recipes. It was fantastic to see the whole community coming together to meet the people behind the produce, celebrate and really connect with local food.”

Mr Pascoe, reflects on the Hotels achievements; “We feel honoured as staff and management to have served the community now for forty five years- but there is nothing more heartfelt than when a Bride says with a tear- ‘My mother got married here.’ We have homed in on our skills and services through the years, we have exceeded our strengths and used them to support our weaknesses in order to create an equal level of excellence throughout. We have carried out many fabulous weddings in our time. There is no limit to what we can do with regards to style and value and the Bridal Fayre is an excellent example of that- so yes- 25 years is indeed cause for celebration.’

The event will be held between 10.30 and 3pm- it’s one for the diary.
