An buzz of expectancy filled the air in the Dining Galleries on Friday night at the Penventon Park Hotel as the 3rd Pinking it Up dinner in aid of research into breast cancer, got under way.
Once again the dining room became a haze of pink balloons supplied by Steve Petty of Cornish Decorative Balloons and an especially pink themed menu devised by the chef awaited the taste buds of the 101 guests who had booked tables in anticipation of another enjoyable evening. Once again the Hotel pledged £5 to the charity for every person dining from the special pink menu.
On arrival, guests were offered a pink welcome drink and invited to make a donation which was added to the wishing tree supplied by Caramia occasion stationery & accessories. A raffle of several prizes took place, with the top prize being a 1 night stay for 2 including dinner at the Penventon Park Hotel. By the end of the night £1,041 had been raised. Brenda, who herself beat breast cancer, said
“ I am always grateful to the Penventon Park Hotel and its staff for the effort put in to make the evening such a success, and was very moved when they donated their tips for the night to the ‘pink it up’ fundraising event”.
Brenda is still amazed at the generosity of the local community and feels that with a little more effort on her part the £100,000 target can be achieved.
2013 again sees the Penventon teaming up with Redruth breast cancer survivor, Brenda Pedley, to turn the hotel pink for Cancer Research UK to raise money for the charity’s breast cancer awareness and fundraising campaign, ‘Join the fight for women’s survival’ .
The event now in its 3rd year, and with each year is growing in support – we are hoping that 2013 will be the year that the ‘Pink it up’ evening helps Brenda Pedley reach her fundraising goal of £100,000!!
The Penventon’s brigade of Chefs will be preparing an especially themed ‘Pink’ menu – with a donation of £5 made by the hotel directly to Cancer Research UK for every person dining from the menu.
To add some more atmosphere to the room, Steve from Cornish Decorative Balloons, is kindly donating displays on the tables.
With places limited, and demand already high, please contact the hotel on 01209 203000 to book your table as soon as possible, stating you wish to dine from the charity menu.
Please show your support for the vital work being carried out, whilst enjoying a night out with Penventon’s unique atmosphere, quality food and service.
“Was one of the best night’s out that we have had had in a long time, we can’t wait for next year!”
Celebrating 45 Years
Love the past …
More than 45 years ago the Penventon was frequented by many local people who enjoyed tea treats and garden parties at the Penventon house with bands and marquees. In 1968 – The Pascoe family purchased The Penventon House,
and after extensive work , it opened as a luxury hotel.
Live the present …
This beautiful Georgian manor house is the venue of choice for manygatherings, such as weddings, corporate events and special family occasions; attracting guests, both local and from afar. With traditional values still at the heart of the Penventon,
guests experience a Downton-esque ambiance of vintage charm & elegance. Keeping a foot in the past, our restaurant offers traditional service including silver service, flambé, and the soft melodies from our resident pianist; providing a feel of luxury and sophistication,
as you would expect of a hotel of this calibre.
Embrace the Future …
With some room additions such as deluxe monsoon raindance showers, luxury Hypnos beds and top of the range LCD televisions, Penventon is definitely keeping an eye on the future. Relaxed yet decadent, Penventon really is the place to be spoiled, providing a luxury experience and a chance to get away and discover the pleasures of life; pure Cornish hospitality at it’s best.
“Love the past, live the present, embrace the future”

Our second annual Cornwall Asparagus Festival was an all-round success. Well over 300 visitors attended the event, doubling its visitor numbers since our first event in 2012.
Aaron Pascoe, General Manager at The Penventon, was delighted with the turnout. “We’re passionate about local produce and we’ve worked hard to make this year’s festival bigger and better than the first. We’re so pleased that so many people came along to celebrate the county’s fantastic produce with us and we hope that the festival just goes from strength to strength, year on year. We have so much to offer here in Cornwall, many talented local chefs and delicious produce, so it’s great to celebrate all things local.”
The festival, which took place on Sunday 19 May, was a free one-day event with a mixture of asparagus recipes, live cookery demonstrations, tasters, a special asparagus menu and plenty of Cornish food and drink on offer. The festival is about so much more than asparagus; the Food Market showcased everything from home grown veg and Cornish duck, to Cornish wine and clotted cream. Presented by BBC Radio Cornwall’s Daphne Skinnard and Tiffany Truscott the live cookery demonstrations were a real highlight of the festival.
Joe Lado Devesa, head chef, comments: “People came from far and wide to explore as much Cornish produce as they could manage. Local growers John and Jennie Keeler were happy to answer questions about asparagus and we had some fantastic chefs, including Tim Treseder, Arty Williams, Nigel Tabb and Mark Devonshire sharing the secrets behind their favourite recipes. It was fantastic to see the whole community coming together to meet the people behind the produce, celebrate and really connect with local food.”

Mr Pascoe, reflects on the Hotels achievements; “We feel honoured as staff and management to have served the community now for forty five years- but there is nothing more heartfelt than when a Bride says with a tear- ‘My mother got married here.’ We have homed in on our skills and services through the years, we have exceeded our strengths and used them to support our weaknesses in order to create an equal level of excellence throughout. We have carried out many fabulous weddings in our time. There is no limit to what we can do with regards to style and value and the Bridal Fayre is an excellent example of that- so yes- 25 years is indeed cause for celebration.’

The Penventon Park Hotel is very proud to be the chosen venue for special evening on Friday 24th May with former Australian rugby union legend DAVID CAMPESE to celebrate the Testimonial Year of Cornish Pirates prop ALAN PAVER
David Campese is a household name in the rugby world. Many view David as one of the greatest and most entertaining rugby players to have ever graced the field. Representing Australia for 15 years, he achieved and still holds the world record for the most tries in a test match. To add to his credentials, he was the first man in Australian history to play 101 tests for his country.
The evening will consist of a sumptuous three course meal and will support the Alan Paver testimonial year. Top Australian master of ceremonies and comedian Justin Karcher will be hosting the evening, which includes a raffle and auction.
Speaking of his testimonial dinner, Alan stated ‘I am hugely honoured that one of the greatest rugby players in World rugby will be supporting my testimonial year. It should be a great night for Cornish rugby.‘
This is a unique opportunity to attend what promises to be an unforgettable night for everyone fortunate enough to attend.
The students were being shown around the Hotel by Reception Manager Nigel Jeffery, and informed of the system in which groups and tours are checked in and catered for. As an ex student of Travel and Tourism herself, Hannah was able to provide the students with inspiration; they were able to see what they could do when they complete their course, and the opportunities that arrive.
Suzette even commented on the day as a success- “The students came back to college full of enthusiasm, wrote up their notes and are planning to drop in their CV’s!” A great way of continuing the great relationship that we have with the college team.
Great work guys.
The Hotel sparked some interest on Friday 11th January when we had a special guest Nick Clegg in our midst. The deputy Prime Minister hosted our luncheon for the Cornwall chamber of commerce and Industry questions and answers networking event. He was impressed to say the least, and enjoyed the range of fresh local Cornish produce that was so beautifully displayed around the room.
“A grand banquet fit for a king” said one of the members.
A great excuse to showcase our best assets, we received such lovely comments from everyone. Our head chef was extremely pleased with the positive feedback received.
“A job well executed.” With such delicious cuisine, it’s only right to mix business with pleasure!
Well done to everyone involved.
